Valluvam (வள்ளுவம்) — Community Impact & Empowerment Valluvam is a Tamil-led nonprofit organization started by members of the Tamil diaspora in Canada with a mission to support and empower Tamils affected by war, displacement, and socio-economic challenges. Its work is rooted in ethical values inspired by the teachings of Thiruvalluvar — especially principles of righteousness, compassion, and community service. Origins & Mission Founded in 2020 by Canadians of Tamil heritage, Valluvam was created to bring people together through shared Tamil cultural values and collective action. The founders believed that ethical living isn’t just about ideals, but about meaningful, sustained action that benefits society. The organization offers guidance, practical support, and community services by drawing on the expertise of trained mentors — including lawyers, doctors, social workers, accountants, therapists, and educators — to assist the people and communities they serve. What Valluvam Does Valluvam’s work focuses on empowerment, education, wellbeing, and community development both locally and internationally: Supporting War-Affected Tamils: Valluvam provides assistance to Tamils who have endured displacement, loss, and economic hardship due to civil war and related crises. Peer Mentorship & Professional Guidance: Through knowledgeable mentors, the organization helps individuals navigate legal, social, financial, and health challenges. Programs for Refugees: Through initiatives like Ara-Vali , Valluvam supports refugees — especially those in countries that are not signatories to the UN Refugee Convention — with education, financial aid, settlement guidance, medical consultations, and spiritual support. Community Projects: Valluvam works directly with communities in locations such as Puthur-Kathiraveli, Karungkali Cholai, Kallaripu-Verukal (in Sri Lanka), and diaspora groups in cities like Medan (Indonesia), Bangkok (Thailand), and
