Canadian Tamil Sankam runs Padimurai Tamil, a Tamil-language teaching methodology developed by founder S. Rajaratnam that teaches Tamil as a second language through phonetics and syllable structure. Classes are grouped by proficiency and offered for kindergarten-to-grade-8 students, high-school credit courses (grades 9 to 12), adult learners, and applied-linguistics teacher training. In 2023 the organization was formally recognized by the Tamil Nadu Government for its contribution to spreading Tamil language and culture among diaspora communities. It held its 2026 award ceremony at Father Michael McGivney Catholic Academy in Markham.
