Federation of Global Tamil Organizations (FGTO) The Federation of Global Tamil Organizations (FGTO) is a not‑for‑profit international coalition formed in 2021 , registered in Canada , and established to unite Tamil diaspora organizations around the world around shared goals of justice, human rights, and self‑determination for the Tamil people. Who They Are FGTO brings together member associations from the United States, Canada, and beyond, including groups such as Tamil Americans United PAC (TAUPAC) , Ottawa Tamil Association (OTA) , Quebec Tamil Development Association (QTDA) , World Tamil Organization (WTO) , Tamil Genocide Memorial (TGM) , and Tamil Canadian Centre for Civic Action (TCCCA) . The federation provides a formal platform for collaboration and collective advocacy among Tamil organizations that share common principles on human rights, justice, and recognition of Tamil suffering. Core Purpose & Activities FGTO focuses on several key areas to advance the rights and dignity of Eelam Tamils : International advocacy: The federation has submitted formal letters and statements to bodies such as the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission (TLHRC) in the United States, urging recognition of human rights violations and justice for Tamil victims. These efforts articulate concerns about historical and ongoing injustices and call for political solutions that respect Tamil self‑determination. Political solutions & justice: FGTO actively promotes internationally monitored referendums and legal action to address and seek accountability for genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. This includes support for resolutions like U.S. House Resolution 1230 , which recognizes the Tamil genocide and the right of Eelam Tamils to self‑determination.
